A Slack-packing, all-inclusive adventure where you focus on the experience and everything else is provided, from meals to very comfortable guest house accommodation, in the quaintest of West Coast settings.

This unexplored coastline offers pristine beaches, undiscovered coves, caves and even a labyrinth. This beautiful part of Africa also offers hikers the very unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the San, whose legacy dates back as far as 30 000 years, later followed by the Khoi people of South Africa.

The Shoreline of the San is a 50km, five-day hiking trail which includes sleep-overs in Elands Bay, Lambert’s Bay and Doringbaai and ends in Strandfontein, which is located close to the Olifants River mouth. The hike meanders through an untouched rocky and mostly sandy coastline.

Optimal planning of the hike takes the tidal and moon cycles into consideration, ensuring a safe and enjoyable hike during low tide, on compacted sand rather than challenging soft sand. 

The Shoreline of the San is a slack-packing hike. Your luggage will be transported between accommodations. Hikers only need to carry a small 25- 30litre back pack for items needed for individual comfort during the day’s hike.

Hikers will have the opportunity to trek through territory where only a select few have hiked before! With special permission and access to private property, we are able to offer the untamed beauty of the West Coast.

Peace of mind is ensured by the fact that help is always close at hand, especially when the need for access to a vehicle is required. Hikers will have the opportunity to visit historical sites of the San and Khoi which include caves, middens and bushman paintings at an archaeological site.

Qualified and registered Western Cape Tour Guide(s) accompany the group at all times and are able to answer questions ranging from fauna and flora to history, traditions and fables!
